Daventry v Rugby B 72-89
Daventry lose Wessex League game to Rugby B 89-72
Daventry had a disappointing morning on Sunday in the Wessex League losing 89-72 even though they won two of the four rinks.
In the home matches, Brian Scott’s rink were always under pressure and, even though they scored a 5 on the sixth end to tie the match, the strong Rugby rink scored a 4 and four 3s to record a 30-13 win. Peter Dymond’s rink were involved in a close encounter and when Rugby took a 16-12 lead after 15 ends it looked ominous. However, Peter and his men finished strongly to wrap up the match 23-18.
In the away games, Mick Worthington’s rink led for most of the match only to have to survive a Rugby fightback. The scores were tied at 17-17 after 20 ends. Mick and his men took the last end by one to win 18-17. Michael Moulton’s rink got off to a great start with a 5 on the first end. However, the greater consistency of the Rugby rink meant that they overhauled Michael’s rink after thirteen ends. Thereafter the Rugby rink did enough to prevail by 24-18.
